If you have a tattoo that you regret, laser tattoo removal is a safe and successful option for getting rid of those unwanted tattoos. We use the most effective, safe, and reliable method for removing undesirable tattoos with consistently predictable outcomes.
At our Laser & Beauty Aesthetics By Shiela clinic, we have invested in the latest laser technology to remove all coloured tattoos without causing harm or leaving a scar.
Laser tattoo removal works by breaking down the ink in the tattoo into smaller particles which are then absorbed into the body and eliminated. The laser energy is applied to the tattoo in short, very fast pulses. This allows for a safe and effective treatment with minimal risk of scarring as it doesn’t cut into the skin.
Before starting tattoo removal treatment, we offer consultation and patch test to assess the tattoo. The patch test checks if the client is suitable for the tattoo removal and can start the first removal session 48 hours later. After each first session the tattoo will appear to be covered in a white residue known as “frosting”.
The frosting is produced by small gas bubbles rising to the surface enabling the breaking down of tattoo pigments. The skin is then left to heal for a number of weeks before the next appointment.
How Many Treatments Are Necessary?
This depends on several factors, including skin type, the density and colour of inks and the age of the tattoo. A reduction in pigmentation is noticeable after just one treatment. however, a course of treatments may be recommended for best results. As many as 1 – 10 sessions may be required. New tattoos can be quick to remove, taking 2 to 6 sessions, whereas old tattoos vary considerably and some can take up to 15 sessions. During your consultation, the practioner will assess to decide the best course of treatment.
Does Tattoo Removal Treatment Hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as similar to a hot pinprick or the flick of an elastic band. Whilst mildly uncomfortable, most people tolerate treatment well. A skin cooling device may be utilized to reduce any discomfort. You may notice that skin is slightly sore.
How Does The Skin Look After Treatment?
An instant whitening of the skin is seen after treatment, but this generally fades quickly. The area is likely to feel tender for a few hours and can be red and swollen for up to 48 hours. Some tattoos will form a graze which must be left to heal naturally. Initially, the tattoo is unlikely to look any different but will fade over the next 4 to 8 weeks as the body disperses it.
Does Tattoo Removal Leave Scars?
Unless one already has an existing scar, are prone to scarring or keloids or are not following your aftercare, laser tattoo removal will generally not cause scarring.
Is Laser Tattoo Removal Suitable For All Skin Types?
Our advanced laser technology can treat all skin types and ones.
Are There Any Side Effects Of Laser Tattoo Removal?
Most side effects are short term, these include blistering, swelling, scabbing, itching and heat in the area treated. Longer term effects may include darkening of the skin hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.
Is Laser Tattoo Removal Permanent?
Any reduction in the tattoo is permanent. There will be some redness for a few hours after treatment, but this usually fades quickly within a week or so. The results will appear gradually over the following weeks and months as the body absorbs the ink.
Does Drinking Water Help With Tattoo Removal?
Drinking water helps to break up ink particles making it easier for your body to process the tattoo ink. The recommendation to drink 8 glasses of water or 2 litres a day is more important when you are having treatment.
